Bridging the AI Skills Gap to Accelerate Dubai's Digital Transformation

The challenge was to overcome any existing digital skill gaps and legacy constraints by equipping DDA’s workforce and other government entities within DDA with in-demand AI skills to address real public sector needs. This presented a powerful opportunity to upskill government professionals to design and deploy impactful Microsoft Azure AI solutions, accelerating Dubai's digital transformation and global leadership in the smart government.



A Structured Skilling Journey for Real-World Impact

We delivered a structured skilling journey for DDA’s technical developers, starting with foundational Azure AI concepts through AI-900 certification prep. Participants then advanced to practical AI solution development with GitHub Copilot and AI-102 training to design and implement AI models in Azure. The program culminated in advanced technical training aligned to AI-3016, empowering developers to build scalable, sophisticated AI applications. This comprehensive pathway equipped them with both foundational knowledge and hands-on expertise for cutting-edge Azure AI innovation.

Innovative Learning Through Immersive Hackathons

A key creative element that enhanced the learning experience was the incorporation of immersive, challenge-based hackathon sessions using Microsoft Azure coupled with Gen AI/ML concepts. This enabled developers to collaborate in real-time on building AI solutions, allowing them to practice on Gen AI models and implement best practices for security. This experiential learning format significantly boosted engagement, technical proficiency, and problem-solving skills within a highly dynamic and practical environment. 



Measurable Outcomes and Lasting Impact

The outcomes of the program were resoundingly positive, with over 150 DDA participants earning digital badges in recognition of their new skills. Participant feedback highlighted an increase in technical confidence and readiness for deeper AI training, clearly indicating the program's success in building a future-ready, AI-skilled workforce for the government of Dubai.
